Position: Executive Director
Organization: Nature Saskatchewan (www.naturesask.ca)
Location: Regina, Saskatchewan
Full/Part Time: Full-TimeDUTIES
- Building and maintaining cooperative working relationships with members and external partners, including local societies, to develop and implement collaborative plans that sustain Nature Saskatchewan’s mandate.
- Ensuring the support, supervision and performance evaluation of all staff including the recruiting and hiring of management positions, in consultation with the Board of Directors.
- Managing the society’s finances including responsibility for budgets, grants, and funding reports.
- Supporting government and corporate relations and advisory practices, often in an advocacy or formal representative role.
- Ensuring timely and effective representation with the community and with the media, in consultation with the Board.
- Leading and managing the Special Publications program of books about natural history in Saskatchewan and acting in the role of publisher.
- Supporting editors of Blue Jay and special publications in timely development and distribution.
- Keeping abreast of changes in government legislation, regulations and policy, and advising the Board regarding implications for the organization and its mandate.
- Other duties as required
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
This is a relatively demanding position requiring diverse competencies, including:
- A relevant undergraduate degree and a minimum of 5 years of work experience, most recently in a senior managerial role; additional consideration will be given to applicants holding a relevant graduate degree.
- Broad knowledge of conservation science, planning and stewardship.
- Working knowledge of Saskatchewan’s ecosystems, landscapes and current ecological issues.
- Strong management experience – project management, supervisory and personnel management, including hiring staff, work planning, coaching and performance review.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking, to share and build common understanding with board, staff and supporting agencies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including experience and proven results in building relationships, and working with staff and colleagues towards common goals.
- Experience with financials, specifically building and managing budgets, and working with multiple funders.
- Exemplary strategic planning and implementation skills.
- Forward thinking with the ability to analyze and evaluate complex information to support current and future program direction and resolve issues, as required.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work and projects.
- Ability to work independently and collectively as appropriate; initiative/self-starter and high-achieving.
- A strong commitment to the cause and mission of Nature Saskatchewan
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is full-time (37.5 hours/week), Monday to Friday, and is located in the Regina office. An attractive benefits package is available. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience; salary range is $65,841-$91,916/year. The successful candidate must be available to begin work on January 20, 2025.
